“A Splendid Time Is GuarAnteed For All”

I became the owner of a Palmer Johnson Alberg 35 on January 13, 2011. I went to visit her for the first time the next day. A roadtrip from Beaverton, Ontario to Charlevoix, Michigan.

Second Wind Sailing of Charlevoix, MI, owned and operated by Garrett and Elliott Falls made the deal go through with ease and comfort.

The ad for the boat read:

For sale is the beautiful One-of-a-kind Alberg 35, Originally built by Pearson, she is a 1″ thick, solid glass yacht. After cruising the St. Lawrence for nearly 20 years, she was sailed to the World Renowned Palmer Johnson boat yard in Racine, Wi. where she underwent a complete re-fit that started in 1986.

Palmer Johnson spent over 3 years rebuilding this vessel from the ground up, and after which, badged it their own.  Literally EVERYTHING on this yacht has been replaced and rebuilt with PALMER JOHNSON standards.  Palmer Johnson has changed owners since, making it impossible for me to recover a bill or project list directly from them. I have had multiple conversations recently with Mike Kelsey, Sales Manager for Palmer Johnson, who remembers the boat, the extant of the refit, and the “kings fortune” that was spent on the job. The Palmer Johnson company acquired the reputation they have today by these jobs they performed in the 70’s and 80’s.  You are viewing THE ONLY PALMER JOHNSON ALBERG 35.  The build quality of “ASTIGAFA” far exceeds that of Pearson, and other ALBERG 35’s, Making this yacht far more valuable.

After leaving Racine, Wi. “ASTIGAFA” was purchased by a Chrysler engineer, with hopes of cruising her to the Caribbean. These plans were cut short by a fatal Car accident, forcing the boat to be sold, once again. Purchased in 1996 by her current owner, she was sailed ONE SUMMER on lake Michigan, before purchasing a smaller, faster, boat. The boat was pulled that winter, and has been preserved indoors for almost 15 years. Boat has been featured in “Good Old Boat” magazine and was Cruising Club Boat of the Year in the mid 90’s.

The boat is currently stored indoors in a well ventilated building.  Boat and motor and generator have been professionally winterized with long term storage in mind. The vessel can stay until May, and MUST BE MOVED BEFORE JUNE 1.  The local marina quoted me at $700.00 to get the boat out of the barn, into the water, and raise the mast.  I would be happy to deliver this yacht anywhere in the world at an extremely fair price.

This boat is built and ready for world cruising, but would make a great weekender or live-aboard. All pictures are recent and speak no justice, this boat is absolutely beautiful. Please click to see more pictures!
