Looooooong winter!

Man, this winter is going on forever!

I have been working on  the  wood. 3 coats of west epoxy 105/207 and now 3-4 coats of interlux perfection 2 part linear polyurethane is going on.. what a pain! not sure I really like the varnish, it goes on very thin, does not level that great and if you try to lay down too thick a layer, it just wont cure! the puck (leftover in the mixing cup) never hardens, it just turns into a cloudy, rubbery substance. but, having said that, it is starting to look nice and if I can get a dust free final coat I think the end resuls will be quite spectacular.

Still havent really decided on  a name… icarus is up there but so is high cotton, puffin and hookipa… I guess we’ll have to decide by the May 1 renaming party and splash at Lagoon city marina where we are paid in full for the 08 season.

I will very likely be painting the hull once the weather to do so arrives but I’m not sure what to do with the tired old deck, it’s very chalky and in need of a few minor repairs..

here’s the wood so far.. also showing the faux teak and holly I did to the sole boards and the floor of the head. i had to do something about the water stains and this was the best, though hardest, solution.

today is a warm (5c) day that gets me very excited about the fact that come hell or high water, I WILL be setting sail in 60 days or less!!!!!!!
